| Q: Will I have to keep going, or get "addicted" to Chiropractic?
A: This will depend on the nature of your problem. If, for example, you have an acute (short term / new) injury, then Chiropractic care will usually be able to help you in a few visits, and follow-up will just depend on severity. However, if your problem is longstanding and chronic, or you have had a traumatic injury, and didn't treat it immediately with Chiropractic, then it may have healed with scar tissue formation; or, in the case of an old injury, there may be degenerative disc disease present, in which case the condition, being chronic, may not be completely curable. In such a circumstance, our goal will be to first, relieve your pain, then, stabilize the condition, and prevent further degeneration.
Determination of these factors are a major reason why we are so thorough in our initial examination and evaluation of your case.
As to becoming addicted to Chiropractic, this is absurd. You may however become accustomed to feeling so good that you want to keep feeling that way. But, there are certainly lot's worse things to get used to than feeling good all the time.
In general a once-a-month Chiropractic visit is a cheap insurance against spinal degeneration, and helps prevent many other conditions. If you are in a business that requires you to twist and lift a lot, you may want to get adjust more often. If you are more sedentary, it may be enough to get adjust just a few times per year.
